Sonoma Ashram

Healing the Body and Spirit

Meditation and yoga are becoming more accepted as effective methods for healing and personal growth after decades of being on the fringes of mainstream Western medicine and thought. Research institutes from all over the country have published papers on the benefits of these practices for relieving stress and improving one’s health and well-being.

Sonoma Ashram is a recent borrower of RSF. Its primary mission is to provide a spiritual environment with teachings, yoga, and meditation but in a non-commercial way. The Ashram was established in 1990 by Baba Harihar Ramji while he was living at Sky Farm in Sonoma, California. In 2002, the Ashram had to relocate from its rental property. After six months of searching, the current site was identified and purchased. Thanks to RSF investors, RSF was able to refinance Sonoma Ashram’s debt on more favorable terms in 2006.

In addition to its programs in Sonoma, the Ashram created an extension in India. This branch created Bal Ashram (Children’s Ashram) to educate and provide medical supplies, food, and shelter for local children either orphaned or from broken families.
